NEW YORK -- The agent for Mariano Rivera said that the evaluation Monday of the 42-year-old Yankees closer's injured knee did not go smoothly."We ran into complications," Fernando Cuza told the New Y... Read full story
"Complications" - Degenrative condition brought on by a history of using HGH.

History of HGH????? Aaaaaaand you have this special knowledge that no one else seems to possess how? There is absolutely no indication that Mariano Rivera has EVER used any HGH or steroid. You really should keep your pathetic 'opinion' to yourself unless you have specific evidence to the contrary. 15 Days ago

CBS Sportsline just confirmed ..He has something called modified auxilary fluxuated degenerative artery in his knee that was revealed during the MRI...He could lose the leg.... 15 Days ago

It is only a "complication" if you don;t pay attention to it or if you didn't know it was there. His "degenerative" artery is a function of his age and his use/abuse of his leg. The thing you worry about is a torn MCL or a torn lateral meniscus - in addition to the torn ACL and medidal meniscus. His chances of recovery have to be very high given his motivation and work ethic. I would bet that at 42 he is in better shape than most 30 year olds. IMHO 15 Days ago

He says he will be back so he will. This might be just what keeps him around longer than 2013. He is the greatest relief pitcher of ALL TIME!!! Hopefully he comes back as strong as ever. You have to believe that in the shape he is in that he will make a full recovery. I am a huge fan of his. People won't appreciate him until he is gone permanently. There will be some headaches this year as far as closing games. Robertson is a great pitcher and he may turn into a good closer but there is only one Mo. This is good experience for him once he takes over for Mo after he retires. Hopefully we can make the playoffs and advance far with Robertson being dominant. Stay tuned.... 15 Days ago

People saying that Mo's career is over: Where did you get your medical degree from? When did Mo allow you to exam him? Your knee-jerk dismissive attitude towards his aspirations likely carries over into your own life. He probably will be back, because he's a winner and he wants it. Winners will do whatever it takes to make it happen, regardless of any hinderances there may be. 16 Days ago

Even at the hindering ripe age of 43? Do you realize how difficult it is to return from knee surgery as a young 26 year old? Never mind an old timer like Mo! I have nothing but respect for the guy and I agree that he is a true class act....but this injury will certainly end his career. 15 Days ago

I suppose it could be worse. He could have done this fooling around in the club house or at home. But how the heck does a pitcher, shagging flies, manage to do such damage to himself unless he was being too serious chasing a fly ball. It's not his job. Stick to the grass. Of course no one will bring this up because he's a legend and a first ballow HOF player. But dumb is dumb, my friends and you gotta call it as it is. Truth. 16 Days ago

I don't know how hard Mo was going, but tearing an ACL can happen stepping off a curb or walking around a corner. Once you include any kind or running, and especially while running from grass to dirt or vice versa, this kind of accident becomes possible without any "mistakes" on the part of the player. The guy has been shagging fly balls every season during an incredible career, so I would leave it up to him to decide how hard to go while doing his routine. 16 Days ago

This should have been kept quiet..why give out information when nothing is confirmed..Now people are speculating and it could end up being nothing.. 16 Days ago

Depending on what website you look at they describe the terrible triad as tears of the acl, mcl, and either the pcl or the medical menisus (however lateral meniscus injuries are more commonly seen among athletes). 15 Days ago

Rivera should come back as a free-agent cornerback for the Skins. I hear that Dan Snyder's got some scratch burnin' a hole in his pocket. 16 Days ago

I'm a lifelong Red Sox fan. That being said, Mariano Rivera has class and hes been a dominant force in baseball. I sincerely wish him the best and hope he can make a triumphant return. i believe if anyone could that he could and if not he had a damn good run. One of the best closers baseball has ever had. 16 Days ago
