I'm not sure why everyone in the Yankees organization thinks Pettitte will be any better than what they already have. Was it the year off? The fact he has been smacked around in his Minor League starts? Keep Phelps in rotation, Hughes thrives in relief.

It wouldn't take to much to be better than Garcia and Hughes. He had one bad minor league start (and several good ones) which is not uncommon. And he has continued to condition and stay in shape over the past year so having that time away from baseball will not hurt him.
