Given Francisco's current status, do you feel silly, Ian, for having written this lazy cookie-cutter article? 358 Days ago

O'Connor is a ****ing clown. The Mediocre Frank Francisco spews nonsense, pitches against the Yanks, puts two guys on with 1 out and tries to blow the game. Yanks don't take advantage, and hence Francisco "walked the walk". O'connor = giant dbag who wishes he was smart enough to work in baseball. 360 Days ago

So by struggling to not blow a 2 run lead after saying something very stupid, that makes this guy a hero? I don't get it.
Ian, your columns are getting very sloppy lately. 360 Days ago

I fail to see how being in a non-DH league matters for a closer. A closer is never gonna face a pitcher, there will always be a pinch hitter.
And before I get AL fans comparing the PH to the DH, let me remind you the more apt comparison is the PH for the #9 hitter in the AL, not the DH. 360 Days ago

I got news for you Yankees fans. They better win tonight, because Sunday they will be lucky to get a run against Dickey the way he is pitching. 360 Days ago

How did Francisco back up his words, you $@%!$@ Ian? He didn't say he was going to get a save against the Yankees, he said he was going to strike out the side. Martin led off with a rocket that was lucky to be caught, he walked Ibanez, Jeter got a hit, Granderson struck out on a s.h.i.t.t.y. at bat, and he got Teixeria to pop up. Last time I checked, "striking out the side" meant 3 batters, not 1 360 Days ago

If I hadnt watched this game, 95% of this article would have led me to believe the Yankees won the game. Does O'Connor live in an alternate Yankee universe where they won? Yea Francisco didnt look good and he's been below average all year, but he did get the save and the Mets did win. Closing out a game with a 2 run lead and 2 men on is far from "improbable," if anything coming back 3 runs in the 9th is improbable. 360 Days ago

Uh dd any of you Met fans watcth the 9th? hard hit ball by Russell Martin two walks to put the tying runs on base. The only thing that saved your closer was Granderson looking at three pitches. I will give this sorry a** team some credit when you actually do something. Like win a divison. Oh and as for buying a title The Yanks know how to spend money, the same can't be said for your Muts. Need a loan? call MAdoff. 360 Days ago

Were you watching the 9th inning? He gave up a walk and a single you idiot. 360 Days ago

1) nothing the mets ever do will get them credit from yankee fans, so dont pretend like you are a neutral, fair party. Then again you probably werent alive / a yankee fan in the 80s.
2) NYY know how to spend money? Kei Igawa? ARod contract? Pavano? Irabu? No, but they do know how to get past their bad expenditures
3) You insult Met fans with Wilpon references, as if Met fans dont loathe him even the most. 360 Days ago

I think it may be getting to that time where people will have to start giving this team some respect. Everyone is waiting for the other shoe to drop. Listen, before this stretch all the analysts could say is this is going to be the test to see if the Mets are going to be in this or out of this. Well with 2 games left against the Yankees if they can win 1 of the 2 remaining they will be no worse than 3.5 games behind the Nats. Scary to think. I just hope they go to Chicago and handle business there. It would be quite a let down to win the Yankees series then lose to the Cubs. 360 Days ago

Gee whiz...so few commenting on this game - especially from the Yankee side...got yer "bird" cooked did ya? What happened to that Yankee juggernaut that was going to roll through the AL East after your win streak? Hmmm... 360 Days ago

How is it an inferiority complex just because we are fans of a team who doesnt have the same history as yours? Are you saying that for the rest of time every other baseball team fans have an inferiority complex because their team hasnt won 27 championships?
Make sense and learn the term before you start throwing out words.
Lol let me guess, there isnt a rivalry between the Yankees and Mets right? because that would be the only valid reason you could explain an inferiority complex here. 360 Days ago

Ummmm... Your team won a single game against the Yankees... What are you talking about? No one is responding because a nobody closer made a comment which isn't even as stupid as espn wants it to be and no real controversy exists... A baseball game was played... A weaker team beat a stronger team... Okay........ 360 Days ago

Just because you and your fellow Mets fans have a raging inferiority complex when it comes to the Yankees, it doesn't mean this game was any bigger than it was. Especially after the comment from your idiot closer. 360 Days ago

A nobody closer? oh yeah just like the closer on the Yankees. I agree that it was only one game, but the mets were supposed to be a last place team and have been having a great season. You can be a $@%!$@ and talk smack all you want, but the truth is that the Yankees are expected to win it all every year and the Mets are always their little sisters. I have been a Mets fan my whole life, and I love the energy on this team. No longer do they have the fading over priced superstars that they had before, but now they have some young talent that plays hard and doesn't care what the rest of the people say. So talk all you like sideboxer, and Bronxbomber, and all the rest of you Yankee's fans but just remember that the team that shares your city is not the little B itch that they used to be. 360 Days ago
