SEATTLE -- Left-handed reliever Oliver Perez has been selected by the Seattle Mariners while right-handed reliever Steve Delabar was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma.

Seattle made the moves before Saturday's game against San Francisco. To clear a spot on the 40-man roster, the Mariners designate for assignment minor league outfielder Chih-Hsien Chiang.

Perez was 2-2 with a 4.65 ERA and one save win 22 relief appearances with Tacoma. Perez has spent nine seasons in the majors, but has not appeared in a major league game since Oct. 3, 2010 with the New York Mets.
