SEATTLE -- Left-handed reliever Oliver Perez has been selected by the Seattle Mariners from Tacoma while right-handed reliever Steve Delabar was optioned to the Triple-A team.

Seattle made the moves before Saturday night's game against the San Francisco Giants. To clear a spot on the 40-man roster, the Mariners designated for assignment minor league outfielder Chih-Hsien Chiang.

Perez was 2-2 with a 4.65 ERA and one save in 22 relief appearances with Tacoma. He has spent nine seasons in the majors, but has not appeared in a major league game since Oct. 3, 2010, with the New York Mets. Perez spent the entire 2011 season pitching in the Washington Nationals' minor league system.

Delabar is headed back to Tacoma after a brief return to Seattle. Delabar was recalled on June 13 after Stephen Pryor went on the disabled list.
