LYNCHBURG, Va. -- David Minaya scored 18 points and Tavares Speaks scored 10 of his 12 in the second half as Liberty defeated Coastal Carolina 61-57 Thursday night.

Speaks made 1 of 2 free throws with 16 seconds left to put the Flames (13-17, 8-9 Big South Conference) ahead 60-57. Chris Gradnigo missed a 3-pointer for the Chanticleers (18-10, 11-6) on their ensuing possession.

A 3-pointer by Gradnigo with 29 seconds remaining had brought Coastal Carolina within two points, 59-57.

Neither team led by more than nine points in the game, which featured 17 lead changes.

Joel Vander Pol scored 13 points for Liberty, which has won eight of its last 11 Big South games after losing its first six.

Kierre Greenwood had 16 points and seven assists, and Anthony Raffa had 15 points for Coastal Carolina, which has lost five of its last six.
