SMH, "what if rodgers gets hurt?"??? What if brees gets hurt? Brady? Stafford? Cutler? Newton? Manning? Vick? You can say this about any team. What if Aaron Rodgers DOESNT get hurt? ever think about that?

When Russell Wilson beats out Matt Flynn for the starting QB job in Seattle, maybe the Pack can work a trade and get Flynn back. Flynn would rather back up Rogers in Green Bay than a rookie QB in Seattle. DOH!

I mean, he's gotta get injured at least once the next couple years.. and with the tough division, that means no playoffs. can't wait to see those arrogant packers fans fall off their pedestals

If any team with Super Bowl aspirations loses their starting QB, they will have a difficult time earning a spot into the playoffs, let alone win a Super Bowl. Dumb argument. And if any team could do it, Packers are probably on the top of the list. They have a proven track record with developing unproven QB's into solid contributors.

people keep saying we have nothing to base harrell's ability... it seems no one knows about harrell's strong showing in the preseason last year... dude actually lead a late game surge and won with a game winning drive.. and now he's had another year of mccarthy's QB school and offseason training, i'm no more worried about rodgers going down this year than i was last year..

What the Packers are really good at is player development. A few years ago Matt Flynn looked hopeless, but his improvement earned him a big contract with Seattle. Graham Harrell didn't look much better when he first joined Green Bay, but in last years' preseason, he actually looked like an NFL quarterback, and I have no doubt that B.J. Coleman will make the same kind of progress in the next 2 or 3 years: the Pack will be OK at QB no matter who is in there.

This article ridicules Leach QBs in the pros, but Rodgers was a Jeff Tedford QB, which also were/are ridiculed in the pros too (Akli Smith among others). However, Rodgers has changed that perception, through working with coaching staff on his throwing motion. We do know/assume that MM and staff have probably worked with Harrell's too. So Graham might not be as bad as what everyone assumes.

Stupid article. So this guy is trying to tell me that he knows more about Harrells ability to play because of past history than MM and the coaching staff know by coaching him and seeing him in practice everyday for the past 2 years? Not to mention that if any superstar qb goes down with injury, no backup will be able to carry that team to a superbowl. If Brady goes down, Hoyer will not get them there. If Big Ben goes down, Leftwhich will not win them a superbowl. Etc..pointless article

I think everyone missed the point of the article, last year if Rodgers went down for six weeks or so in the middle of the season Flynn could probably lead them to a 4-2 or 3-3 record, and with how dominating Rodgers is they'd still have a great shot at the playoffs. Without any form of insurance maybe now the Packers would go 2-4 or 1-5 and be completely screwed. No one is saying the Packers would win the SB without him in the playoffs, but we can all agree that Rodgers is good enough to win the Super Bowl as the number 6 seed if he gets hurt for a little while. So yes, this is a relevant point.

Outside of Brady's first year, when is the last time a backup qb did anything in the playoffs? Yes, Brady and Warner were backups when they took over and have produced legends, otherwise we have to go back to what, Jeff Hostetler? Schatz usually does a very good job, so I will give him a pass, but yes, if Rodgers gets hurt the Packers are screwed. Same thing with the Steelers, Patroits, Giants, Broncos, etc....

As a Packers fan, this article does ring true. This isn't so much about the dreaded season ending injury that is all that fans think about. It's more about the four week injury. If Graham Harrell plays four games, there is a strong possibility that they lose all four. With Flynn you could have expected to win at least 2 or 3. I looked at every teams backup QB situation. GB has easily the least proven and lowest upside of any team in the league. McCarthy's QB school has raised some excellent young QBs, but Harrell isn't ready. I do have high hopes for BJ Coleman as our backup, but he is very raw.

We have nothing to base anything on at this point. Reports say Harrell has put on 14 lbs. of muscle. You don't do that without heart. As Gunderson stated, the Packers have the best coached QB's in the league. We just have nothing to judge the man yet.

This article makes some valid points on the GB backup QB situation, but it fails to mention that GB probably has the best QB coaching in the league. Yes, an injury to Aaron Rodgers would be devastating for a long period of time, but Mike McCarthy and his staff will have the backups ready to play, and who knows, perhaps one of the two current backups could end up being the next Matt Flynn. I'd rather see them develop the younger QB's than sign Donovan McNabb or someone else.
