How Vegas experts view GB-NO

NFL

The scoreboard operators figure to be busy during the Sunday night matchup between the Packers and Saints. Two of the game's elite quarterbacks (and future Hall of Famers), Aaron Rodgers and Drew Brees, face off in perfect conditions inside the Superdome.

The Saints currently sit as a 2-point favorite with an astronomical total of 55.5 points. At this current number, it's tied for the highest total of the season (along with the Week 6 matchup of Bears at Falcons). But totals typically move up, especially in marquee games. The possibility of nonprofessional handicappers betting the under in this game seems highly unlikely.

The Saints (2-4 SU, 2-4 ATS, Over 4-1-1) have been one of the most disappointing teams in the NFL this year. Considered a viable Super Bowl contender, their preseason Super Bowl odds dropped from 14-1 to 7-1 prior to the year, and their season win total line was 10.5. But of course they're a different team in the Big Easy, where they haven't lost with Sean Payton on the sideline since 2010. Because of the woeful state of the NFC North, they're only 1.5 games out of first place.

Green Bay (5-2 SU, 3-3-1 ATS, Over 6-1) comes into the matchup as one of the hottest teams in the league. Since Aaron Rodgers told all of the team's supporters to "R-E-L-A-X" the Packers have won four straight, and three of the four wins have been by 21 or more points.

According to ESPN PickCenter, the public is backing the Packers at a solid 74 percent rate.

As always, it's time to get some analysis from the experts in Las Vegas.

Matchup: Green Bay Packers at New Orleans Saints

Spread: Opened Saints -2; Still Saints -2
Total: Opened 54; Now 55.5

Jay Kornegay says: We opened Green Bay minus-1.5 on Sunday over the Saints. It didn't take long before New Orleans became the favorite. During the early part of the week, the line was fluctuating between New Orleans minus-1 and minus-1.5. The Saints didn't become minus-2 favorites until Thursday. Since Thursday, the line has been jumping from minus-1.5 to minus-2.5. We certainly have a few different opinions on this game. The line currently sits at Saints minus-2.5, but we expect the swings to continue all the way to the first kick.
